Two more concerts added to line-up…

Hanson and Rick Springfield fill out free concert series

The Kern County Fair has added two more shows to its line-up of free

concerts.

The pop rock band Hanson joins the concert series on Monday, Sept.

28. Hanson is best known for the 1997 hit song “MMMBop” and most

recently released its fourth studio album, The Walk, on the group’s own

label. Hanson has been proclaimed by New York’s “Village Voice” as “the

best straight-up rock band in America, now sowing sonic oats as

independents.”

Rick Springfield will take the stage on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The

Australian-American is a songwriter, musician and actor. Best known for the

1981 #1 single “Jessie’s Girl,” Springfield has sold more than 19 million

records and garnered 17 top-40 hits. Viewers of the daytime hit TV show

“General Hospital” will also know him as Dr. Noah Drake. Last year,

Springfield released his new album “Venus in Overdrive,” marking a return

to his pop/rock roots.

With the theme “Best in the West,” planners of this year’s Kern County

Fair have lined up a star-studded showcase of free concerts for Bakersfield’s

largest annual celebration, Sept. 23-Oct. 4.
