| Rick Springfield and Hanson added to 2009 Entertainment Lineup | |
Two more concerts added to line-up… Hanson and Rick Springfield fill out free concert series The Kern County Fair has added two more shows to its line-up of free concerts. The pop rock band Hanson joins the concert series on Monday, Sept. 28. Hanson is best known for the 1997 hit song “MMMBop” and most recently released its fourth studio album, The Walk, on the group’s own label. Hanson has been proclaimed by New York’s “Village Voice” as “the best straight-up rock band in America, now sowing sonic oats as independents.” Rick Springfield will take the stage on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The Australian-American is a songwriter, musician and actor. Best known for the 1981 #1 single “Jessie’s Girl,” Springfield has sold more than 19 million records and garnered 17 top-40 hits. Viewers of the daytime hit TV show “General Hospital” will also know him as Dr. Noah Drake. Last year, Springfield released his new album “Venus in Overdrive,” marking a return to his pop/rock roots. With the theme “Best in the West,” planners of this year’s Kern County Fair have lined up a star-studded showcase of free concerts for Bakersfield’s largest annual celebration, Sept. 23-Oct. 4.
