The directors of the 15th District Agricultural Association are appointed by the Governor of the State of California. Directors provide leadership to represent the interests of the area served, and establish policy accordance with the laws of what fairs can and should do. The Board of Directors is actively involved throughout the year in a committee system to oversee the management for the Fair and other fairground events. Directors serve without compensation; the Association is a state agency supported in part by AB 1499 and horse racing taxes, but the majority of revenue is self-generated.
